Is Your Life Perfect?

Is your life perfect?

I am failing. I am failing miserably if I get asked that question. Seriously--FAILING. But what I post on Instagram, Facebook, and even my blog can make someone think that. I try, I really do--I try to post real life. The messes after dinner, the blow outs of poop in the grocery store and the diapers all over the floor. And I truly do think that I have been blessed with a thankful heart. So even in the midst of poop in the store, a dirty house, etc. I am thankful. But still...I can't let people think that my life is perfect.

Because that is just not the case.

So what should I post about? Oh! Here are just a few examples from this past week:

I had to humbly grudgingly apologize to Travis after I got mad at him for wanting to watch the UFC fights when we already had plans. I had to apologize because in, his words, I "freaked out on him" and was acting "crazy". Um, yeah, I'll just leave it at that.

Right now I am washing this ONE load of laundry for the THIRD time because we keep forgetting about it.

Brody woke up early this morning because Travis forgot to close this blinds and curtains last night--I was not very nice to him this morning.

Um, Brody pooped in his car seat three days ago and I still haven't cleaned it out. AH! Gonna go grab that now...

I think the problem with social media really boils down to our hearts and comparing. When I see a friend post again about their cute kids or beautiful home or happy marriage, I don't feel jealous. Well, not usually. Only if their home has granite countertops. Just kidding...;) When I see that friend's post, I am thankful. Thankful for their blessings.

Because we ALL are blessed far beyond what we DESERVE.

Excerpt from this article...
"Let’s choose community. Let’s stop comparing. Let’s start connecting.
Some days when I sit down at my laptop, instead of choosing to be an observer via Facebook, I choose to be a friend via email. Instead of scrolling through someone else’s carefully curated images, I use those few seconds to send a text to a person I really know and really love and really want to be connected to."

In my opinion Instagram, Facebook, Blogs, etc. is a way to share your life. The good and the bad. But who will actually share the tough stuff? I will. Will you?

  1. great blog, mama! My friend always comments disclaimers on her Instagrams like, "my kids look peaceful now, but two seconds before this was taken they had a giant temper tantrum that sent me through the roof." Haha, it always makes me laugh because I can just picture it, real life is so much better than fabricated ones!

  2. Beautiful. Truly. I can relate. And I see your heart so well in the moments I interact with you. Praying for an incredibly peace filled week. (ps. Matt picked me up from moms group today because my car was in the shop. I wasn't in the car 5 seconds before I started "commenting" on his driving. SERIOUSLY?!?) Lynette
