Broderick::Swimming at Grandpa's

We are spending some time right now in Tahoe but I have been looking through our photos from San Diego and just had to share these. We spent a day at my dad's house and Brody loved being in the pool. My dad and his wife bought Brody a little floaty and he looked like such a big boy!
What always seems to happen moments after we put a hat on his head:)
It was such a beautiful day out and we had a great time!
Brody loves his Auntie Maddie.
Thank you for a fun swim, Dad and Vickie!

Broderick::Sandy Toes

Today, I knelt down to dip my baby's sweet toes in the Pacific Ocean for the first time. I grew up playing in these waters and it brought me so much joy introducing B to the beach.
Dipping his toes in the water...
His reaction--The water was a bit chilly and caught him by surprise. After spending just a few minutes down by the water, he napped for about an hour in his Oma's arms.
We met my sister and some of my high school friends at the beach. Megan brought her little guy who is 10 weeks old. It is so fun getting together with friends! Sorry we didn't get you in the pic, Mags!
I love these two guys!
Vacation has been great so far--non stop fun. We are completely exhausted. Looking forward to a few relaxing days coming up. Stay tuned for some more Portrait Sessions on the blog.

Thanks for following our little family's adventures!

Happy First Father's Day

Happy First Father's Day to my hubby! I feel cliche to say this but you are the best Dad I could ever hope for for our family. It's true--You are our favorite person!! You make both of us giggle and squeal with excitement when you walk through the door! I'm so blessed to call you my husband and I know Brody is such a lucky baby to call you daddy!

For Travis' Father's Day gift I took Brody's pictures and put them in a tri-fold frame for Travis' desk at work. I just love how they turned out! Thank you Kim for getting the letters!!
Happy Father's Day to my daddy, stepdad and father-in-law! You have been such great influences in my life and I'm thankful for you! Can't wait to see you soon!

Five on Friday

This week kind of seemed to drag on--anyone else feel that way too? I think it is because Travis' vacation starts in a few days and we are SO ready for that!!

By the end of the day, about one hour before Travis is supposed to get home from work, I am wracking my mommy brain of ways to distract Brody and help the time go faster. I love being with my boy but it is so nice to hand him over to daddy for a while!!

I have a huge to-do list to get done before we leave for vacation. Amongst other boring things it includes cleaning bathrooms, getting our neighbor boy to water our plants while we are gone, and getting Brody's drool-stained crib sheets in the washer. Fun stuff!

We have some dear friends getting married tomorrow and I'm so excited!! I love photographing Weddings and it will be so great to be guests at a wedding this time!:) Now if only I could figure out what to wear!!

We've been letting Brody experiment with fingers foods. It is such a nice distraction when Travis and I are trying to peacefully eat a meal. Brody sucked on a slice of cucumber while Travis and I enjoyed TeaBar.
Have a great weekend, friends! The blog might be a little bare these next few weeks as I'll be enjoying my little family and the San Diego sun!!

"In this life..."

“In this life, people will love you and people will hate you and none of that will have anything to do with you.”

Abraham Hicks

I wrote a while back on my Facebook that I was struggling with rejection. I shared that I was so thankful for my husband, who encouraged me and helped me find insight into why I had been stressed.

I was sitting on the floor with Brody and I said to him "Brody, I hope you don't feel rejected ever in your life." Then I paused and realized that he will. It's inevitable. Then I said "Okay, well I just hope that you handle it better than your momma". If being an example for your baby isn't motivation to do right, I don't know what would be.

There will be people in your life who don't want to be your friend. And, in my opinion, as long as you know that you are being loving, then their decision to not want to be your friend has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.

I think this will be something I will be facing the rest of my life. And I am learning day by day how to handle it.

We are not called to be best friends with everyone. But, we are called to love everyone and that is also something I am learning.

A few photos to brighten up this post:)
How do you deal with rejection? Or how have you learned not to deal with rejection?;)

Five on Friday

About to join a friend in her pool...here's my quick Five...

Brody had his first trip to the creek! This kid must know that his parents are beach babies because he LOVES the water. His lips were turning blue and still cried when I took him out for a break.

Travis' birthday this week was a success! I made him eggs and bacon in the morning with a little birthday candle poking out of the eggs. The candle melted in his eggs--makes sense...

I've been helping Brody get on his hands and knees to crawl. He is pretty sturdy but eventually face plants or falls to his belly. I'm kinda bad at facilitating him learning the next phase so I'm trying to help him crawl. Call me crazy;)

I realized that our front porch area had lots of cobb webbs and daddy longs legs. I went out there with a broom and only lasted about 2 minutes. I still feel like they are crawling all over me. We are officially hiring--anyone want to make a few bucks??:)

Travis and I put Brody in the nursery at church for the first time this week. During a break I ran over and checked on him--happy as a clam! Travis and I REALLY enjoyed that 1.5 hours! Got our first baby tag to claim him when we got back--feels like a rite of passage:)
Enjoy your weekend, friends! Any fun plans? It's supposed to 109 degrees here in Chico! Shooting a Wedding with TreCreative tomorrow should be interesting...

Chico, CA Birth Photographer:: Cambria Lynn

I can't express enough how amazing it is to get to photograph a little one's birth day! Thank you for allowing me to be there, Josh and Adrienne. I am so thankful.
These photos tell a sweet story but what they don't show is the mad-dash that ensued just moments before I ran into their hospital room. And this is the reality of birth photography--sometimes your clients just might have a close call of a delivery in an elevator before you get there:)
This is what I walked into the room to find--a sweet little girl who entered the world faster than we expected!
Proud daddy making calls and taking photos to share the good news!
Little Cambria has a full head of dark hair!
Love the little wrinkly newborn toes!
I held back tears as Josh held his daughter for the first time.
Adrienne, you look absolutely stunning...
Adrienne and Josh, great job on welcoming another beautiful little girl into the world. I'm sure Cambria Lynn is getting lots of loving from her older brother and sister.

It was such an honor to be invited into your hospital room--I felt like family. Thank you!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my best friend! You are such a fun person to be around and I continue to learn more and more from you each year.

There is no doubt in my mind that you make me a better friend, sister, daughter and mom.

Thank you for being my man and being the best dad to Brody!

Happy Birthday!!
One of my most favorite photos of you two.
